2015 Butchers Pride competition- Top Prize - Pat on the back!!!
We have immense pleasure in announcing that not only did our Lincolnshire Pork Sausages win yet another Gold award at the 2015 Butchers Pride Competition but we were awarded Top Prize of Overall Best Sausage!! We are delighted with this award as it confirms what all of our loyal customers have been saying for years – that our traditional sausages are the best in town!!
This year there was a record entry of 30 different sausages entered into the competition which covered butchers from Boston, South Holland and The Deepings. The excerpt below is from the Spalding Guardian Newspaper.
“MP… John Hayes said: “I designed this competition to boost local businesses and back Lincolnshire sausage makers…Sausages are a source of immense pride to those who make them and enjoy them…..I’m certainly among those who enjoy eating them!”
The coveted gold awards went to Trevor Sharpe for his black pepper speciality sausage and to Bycroft’s of Boston for their Lincolnshire sausage.
However, it was Bycroft’s with the highest overall points score who won the cut glass trophy donated by Mr Hayes, taking it to Boston for the first time in the competition’s four years.”

Gold Award 2014 for our Lincolnshire Pork Sausages
It gives us great delight to announce that we have recently been awarded a Gold Medal Award for our traditional Lincolnshire Pork Sausages. Yet again we participated in the Butchers Pride Competition, held annually and organised by Mr John Hayes MP. We were awarded Silver in both 2012 and 2013 but are thrilled that this year, 2014 we have walked away with a top prize. Of the competition, Mr Hayes reflected “on how lucky we are in Lincolnshire to have so many top drawer independent butchers” and that it “highlights the quality of the true Lincolnshire sausage and the strength of the independent butchers who produce them.”

Top Marks for Food Hygiene
Following our recent annual Food Hygiene Inspection by a Boston Borough Council Food Safety Officer, we are thrilled to announce we were awarded top marks once again. Boston Borough Council are inspecting all food premises using the New Food Hygiene Ratings Scheme. Any premises selling food has to be thoroughly inspected and a score from 0 - 5 is awarded, with 5 being very good. This rating scheme is to give customers increased confidence when buying food, so that they can be sure that the food retailer is conforming to Food hygiene legislation.
Silver Award Butchers Pride Competition
After competing in the first ever Butchers Pride Competition March 2012 we are delighted to announce we were awarded silver for our traditional Lincolnshire Sausages. The competition was organised and supported by Mr John Hayes MP (South Holland and The Deepings). The competition covers independent butchers from South Holland, The Deepings and Boston. There were 19 different sausages and each sausage was tasted and then marked on smell, texture, taste, seasoning and flavouring. The standard of entry was incredibly high so we are delighted with our Silver Award. The event is set to become an annual competition and as commented live at the event “[this is a] fantastic celebration of just the quality and diversity of independent butchers in our area, which I think is actually superb, and is ‘one in the eye for Tescos’ “
Everyone at Bycrofts would like to wish Maureen a very Happy retirement. Having worked for Bycrofts for almost 7 years (but in the Butchers trade for 20+ years!)
